Description

2.4809 hectares plot with a memorial shrine in the centre. Inscription on the plinth: "Independence from Colonialism was our Aim", on the front of the light mamor in pyramidical shape a description of the cirmumstances of the unveilance on 26.08.2009, on the front of the wide granite stone panel an engraving with scenes from the struggle, on its back an inscription that explains the history of the site. The Bunker in the west, the pond northeast and the clinic south-east. The SWAPO Plantation field in the south-west is surrounded by an iron fence.

Brief History

On the 26th of August in 1966 the South African Police launched a helicopter-borne assault on the SWAPO base. Therefore at this site the Namibian War of Liberation and Independence started.
